Hi!
I'm Thanuja, a recent environmental science graduate from the University of Guelph. GIS courses were not mandatory for my degree, so I took it on a pure whim as I could never call myself 'tech savvy'. But I had great professors and TAs that made me fall in love with GIS. I still wouldn't call myself tech savvy, ArcMap and Python do make me want to pull my hair out sometimes, but besides the frustration, the amount of things you can create and discover using a couple shape or raster files is astounding.
The final GIS course was Applied Geomatics, a project-based course where you and your group planned, carried out, and wrote about a GIS centralized project start to finish. It was intimidating (cause we were on our own) but really exciting as well! I got to work with network analyst models and GTFS data for the first time. Feel free to check it out our poster or story map below!
