About Me
I graduated in 1998 from the University of Winnipeg with a B.Sc. Honours Biology and worked in environmental sciences in the private sector for eight years before joining the Manitoba Conservation Data Centre, part of Manitoba Conservation Wildlife and Fisheries Branch, where I currently reside. After being introduced to GIS in the private sector and dabbling in a few university and ESRI courses I found I really liked GIS and geomatics in general, seemed perhaps somewhat good at it, and received satisfaction being the GIS support for my co-worker's and undergraduate student's projects. In 2013 I decided to obtain a diploma in GIS which I completed in 2016- graduating from the Assiniboine Community College with a Dipl. Adv. GIS Environmental Technologies. In the next few years I hope to research species distribution modeling and apply my knowledge to conservation efforts. More generally I hope to continue learning about GIS technologies as I still find the field quite fascinating and expansive enough to always be interesting.

In my own words...
The Esri Canada Scholarship award is a great opportunity to work hard to take advantage of all the Esri goodies kindly provided to me to increase my knowledge of GIS technology so can be better at helping out my co-workers and others requiring GIS expertise. And I also won't have to worry about the ArcGIS Administrator dreaded screen-of-doom telling me my ArcGIS license is about to expire in 14 days.
